Privacy Policy

RosterIQ helps you organize pickup sports games — rosters, balanced teams, live match scoring, and post-game voting. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We aim to collect as little as possible.
Who we are
RosterIQ ("we", "us") is operated by Andrei Simedre. For any privacy question or request, contact support@rosteriq.ro. We are the controller of the personal data described below.
Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account we collect your name and email address. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email from that provider (you may choose to hide your email when using Sign in with Apple). We store an authentication token to keep you signed in.
Profile information
Information you add to your profile, such as a display name and an optional profile photo.
Content you create
Games you set up (title, sport, kickoff time, location/address you enter, duration), rosters and player skill ratings, teams, match results, post-game votes and MVP selections, friends and head-to-head records, and messages you send in a game's group chat.
Chat encryption
Group chat is end-to-end encrypted on your device. Optional encrypted chat backups are protected by a key derived on your device. We cannot read the contents of your encrypted messages or backups.
Device & usage information
A device identifier used to deliver push notifications, plus basic technical data needed to operate the service (e.g. app version, and request logs for security and debugging).
Location
If you choose to add a game location, the address or coordinates you provide are stored with that game. We may use a game's location to show local weather. We do not track your location in the background.
How we use your information
- To provide the app: accounts, games, rosters, balanced teams, live match sessions, voting, chat, and notifications.
- To send transactional emails such as email verification and password resets.
- To send push notifications you've enabled (invitations, kickoff reminders, MVP awards). You can turn these off in Settings.
- To keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Legal bases (EEA/UK)
We process your data to perform our contract with you (providing the app), on the basis of your consent (e.g. push notifications), and for our legitimate interests in keeping the service secure and functional.
Service providers we share with
We share data only with providers that help us run the app, under appropriate safeguards:
- Apple — Sign in with Apple, push notifications (APNs), and weather data (WeatherKit).
- Google — Sign in with Google (if you choose it).
- Email delivery provider — to send verification and password-reset emails.
- Cloud hosting — to run our backend and store your data and profile images.
Data retention
We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data, except where we must keep limited records to meet legal obligations. Note that messages you've already sent may remain visible to other members of a game's chat; delete sensitive messages before closing your account if needed.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under the EU/Romania GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your data, and to object to or restrict certain processing.
- Export — use Settings → "Export your data" to download a copy of your data as JSON.
- Deletion — you can close your account from the app, or email us to request deletion.
- Other requests — contact support@rosteriq.ro.
Children
RosterIQ is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will remove it.
International transfers
Your data may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll revise the "Last updated" date above, and significant changes will be communicated in the app where appropriate.
